Stop. Drop. And Yoga!

Follow along with this 20 minute yoga class in your own home or at the office. This relaxing class offers neck and side stretches, strength building for the legs, and many opportunities to open the shoulders.  Pia guides you through several variations to make it adaptable for all levels from beginner yogis to advanced. All you need is a mat and a blanket if you have one!

What are some of the benefits to practicing yoga mid-day?

  1. Improves digestion

Moving around after you eat helps your digestive system “move things along.” Find some relief from bloating made worse from sitting for long periods of time after a meal. Knowing you have a small workout later might also help you make more nutritional food choices too! Couple that with a few big glasses of water, and you are on your way to a healthy, happy week.

2. It wakes you up!

Rather than reaching for another caffeine boost, try cultivating real energy from within. Get the blood flowing! Coffee and other sugary “energy” drinks are only a band-aid for the post-lunch lethargy. Avoiding caffeine late in the day is also going to help you sleep better at night, thus improving your energy for the next day. If you did not make it to your morning workout either, this might give you that motivation you need to make it to the full, 5:15 PM yoga class you keep meaning to get to!  Let feeling good be your new habit.

3. Better mood and more focus

Taking the time to move with the breath instantly calms you down and helps you view situations with more clarity. If you’ve hit writer’s block, come up against a problem in a project, or just can not seem to get along with a colleague, a short yoga practice is one way to hit the reset button.  A 20 minute break might actually make the second half of your day more productive. If you’re trying to slog through four hours of work in a bad mood with no focus, do you really expect to get anything done?  We didn’t think so either.
