Refresh has developed the first 30 hours of  our highly-rated, Yoga-Alliance certified yoga teacher training into an independent and self-paced program of study. The program launches January 15 and is available up until the beginning of the 200-hour yoga teacher training in September, 2021.  We hope that by this time, the coronavirus pandemic will be controlled with a vaccine and public health measures, and we will be able to offer our 200-hour program in intensive training weekends, in-person in our studio in Old Town, Alexandria, VA.

Until then, you are invited to explore the fundamentals that every vinyasa yoga teacher learns at the outset of a 200-hour training program with us.  Learn in your own home, at the times you are available, and at your own pace, from yoga teachers who are experienced, welcoming and available to you for questions and clarifications online. Our teachers hold either the 500 hour Yoga-Alliance registration or have over 2,000 hours of teaching experience or both.  All have earned the highest recommendations from past students of the program.

The program contains eight modules.  Each module includes a filmed presentation of the material, a manual with journal prompts, opportunities for further exploration of the topic, and reading and/or asana practice assignments. As you progress through these modules, you will learn:
  • The anatomy of the spine
  • The anatomy of the breath
  • Introduction to the Yoga Sutras
  • Introduction to the Subtle Body
  • The appropriate verbal cues, alignment and modifications of the poses in warm-up, and in Surya Namaskar A and B in a typical vinyasa class.
The program also comes with 5 classes you can take either in-studio or live-streaming at Refresh Yoga Center.
A vast majority of students completing the first 30 hours of teacher training find that their personal yoga practice has been enriched. Whether or not they choose to continue on to the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training program at Refresh Yoga Center, students find transformation through the deepening and strengthening of the fundamentals of practice.
For those choosing to continue to the 200-hour teacher training in September 2021,  all assignments in the training manual should be completed and a final teaching video sent to the teaching staff by September 1, 2021.  Students will receive constructive feedback on their teaching video, and a welcome to the 200-hour program upon completion of all assignments.
Price:  $400 for the instructional videos and training manual.
$100 for the review of the final teaching video.
